Presence of the Xaverian Missionaries in Cameroone, Xaverian Missionaries, came to Cameroon in 1982. Our goal is first evangelization, mission awareness, vocation promotion and formation. We work in the formation of Basic Christian Communities, formation in Christian initiation or Catechumenate, formation of pastoral agents. We are committed to help the local church achieve autonomy, and to the promotion of human dignity, justice and human rights.

Fr. Zoni in a classroomThe church of Cameroon has recently celebrated its first century in this land, through the evangelization efforts of German Pallottine Missionaries since 1891.  In the Northern part of the country, influenced by Islam, evangelization efforts begun only after the World War II by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.  Today the Church of this nation is experiencing a very fruitful moment, thanks to the commitment of the laity anxious to foster the growth and Africanization of the Christian communities.

Today, some of our missionaries work in areas where the Gospel message is still unknown, run new projects for refugees such as "Families d'accueil pour marginaux," and a "Social Project" on the outskirts of Douala for the reinsertion of young boys and men into society.

With regard to the necessary formation structures, the situation is as follows:

our novitiate is located in Kinshasa, Dem. Rep. of Congo

the first year of formation is based in Douala

the Philosophy community resides in Bafoussam

the theology community is based in Yaounde.
