Fatima Shrine was built and is directed by the Xaverian Missionaries.  The Xaverian Missionaries were founded over 100 years ago in Italy.  Holliston, MA, was the site of the first foundation in the Americas.  The Shrine became a calling card providing an introduction to the extensive work of the Xaverian Missionaries throughout the world.  Through the Fatima Shrine, the world mission of the Church is made known locally.
