Who are the Xaverians ?

Print PageOur One and Exclusive Purpose

Bishop George Biguzzi in Sierra LeoneWe, Xaverian Missionaries, are a religious community of priests and brothers founded in 1895 by Blessed Guido M. Conforti.

Inspired by the life and dreams of St. Francis Xavier, who left his home country and family to preach the Word of God to distant lands, we contribute towards making of the world one single family by proclaiming in word and action the Good News of God's Reign to non-Christians.

We respond to Jesus Christ's invitation to be His witnesses to the ends of the world by a life-long commitment to serving the poorest among the poor.

"To Seek, See, and Love God in All"

Prayer Put into Action

Fr. Carl Chudy in the PhilippinesAs men of prayer and action, we live in community and work with people of all faiths and beliefs.

Our dialogue at the level of faith necessarily leads us to cooperating in peace and justice issues.

We live according to the vows of poverty, obedience, chastity and mission.

Our close involvement in the life issues of the people we are sent to, oftentimes, challenges and enriches our faith.

We work in Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Dem. Rep. of Congo, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, France, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and the USA

Our Home - The World

Our life is inspired by faith, strengthened in Hope, and driven by Love.
Christ is the source and inspiration of our feelings, thoughts and actions.
This enables us to seek, see and love God in all.

Fr. Rene Lovat in CameroonOur Mission takes us to many developing countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas.

There we are called to respond to the needs of the people including medical, agricultural, educational, leadership training, etc.

"The Love of Christ urges us on!"

Still, in more developed countries our ministry opens to the ever increasing demand for spiritual guidance and the promotion of the rights and dignity of the less fortunate in society.
